The history of Villa Feriani and the Gentilizia Chapel which is set within the estate, spans over more than 3 centuries of local history.
The main structure of Villa Feriani was built during the 1600s by the Scroffa family. Later, after various family vicissitudes, the villa and its properties were acquired by the rich family, native of Vicenza, of Garzadori. Under their ownership the villa was embellished and enriched by the Chapel Gentilizia, built in 1700 during the Jubilee year.
Over the years it passed to the Noris family, nobles of Verona who left it in a state of abandonment and then sold it in 1846 to Giacomo Grancara and finally the property passed to his grandson Giuseppe di Francesco Feriani in 1847.
From that moment on, the villa has always belonged to the Feriani family who restored and preserved it with care and passion until today, when we came to collect the witness of this important heritage: Giulia and Giovanni. We still live in the estate with our large family and we have chosen to share with people this little treasure of ours, together with the Borgo. We think it is the ideal place for those who are looking for rest and tranquility that only country life can give back.
The Villa is not currently open to individuals or groups.
In occasion of particular days the Chapel is opened inside the park and of which we speak here below.
The Chapel Gentilizia is our little treasure and it is the place that fascinates our guests.
The building, constructed by the Garzadori family, was consecrated in 1700, as evidenced by the commemorative plaque placed inside. The building has an octagonal base, typically in Baroque style, and is finely decorated also on the outside with plant festoons and other decorative elements. Inside, on the two arms in which the structure is articulated, there are two altars of valuable workmanship dedicated one to San Francesco, the other to the Madonna della Misericordia. Also the internal decorations are of baroque taste. One of the peculiarities of the structure lies in the ingenuity of the use of space, in fact, the sacristy, the choir and other rooms are obtained through a cavity of the octagon that represents the center of the Chapel.
The Cappella Gentilizia can be visited only on particular occasions and is open to the community of Colzé during the celebrations of the patronal feast.
